Some places like Dick’s and Gravity Payments practice good business ethics, treat their employees well and are very successful. This should be the norm, not the exception. Unfortunately, this has become the norm. And thisIn 2016, economists had said that minimum wage would need to be $28 per hour in order to keep pace with inflation. That was 5 years ago and we’re STILL fighting to get $15 per hour. Meanwhile, those that say a minimum wage of $15 per hour would cripple the economy have become bigger billionaires and their employees pay more in taxes. Corporate greed has become our culture and gain at the expense of others our mantra. As a little girl, when I’d think of what life would be like when I became an adult, I never thought this would be it. I thought life would be better and everyone would have what they need; clean water, good food, good health, good pay, good education. No one would be struggling, stressed or fighting. THIS should be the norm; living wage, good and ethical worker treatment, great customer service. Workers are the keystone of the economy. When they are paid better, they buy things and the economy flourishes. If Dick’s and Gravity Payments can successfully pay and treat their employees well, then no one else has a good reason not to do the same. The proof is right in front of us.
