Such a strong statement for peace and unity. Iranians from all over the world have been gathering in Paris, France each year in ever-increasing numbers. Their goal; peace and democracy in Iran. The room at this conference is packed, wall to wall, shoulder to shoulder. Given the prices for travel these days, I’m sure this trip was expensive for many of them. That just highlights just how important this gathering, this push for peace and freedom is to them. It was especially touching when the pictures of the thousands who were imprisoned and killed for their political views were held up by members of the audience, possibly family members.

This particular gathering happened in Paris and conducted by Iranian people, but I have been seeing gatherings such as this occurring all over the world. People, like us here in the United States, tired of greedy and despotism destroying the lives and countries they love so much. Desiring something better, not just for themselves, but for their children and future generations. Iran, America, Mexico, England, India, Australia, Russia and many others, all with the same goal; peace, freedom and democracy through peaceful and steadfast resistance. The people of each being not an unmoving mountain, but as fast, strong and ever-growing river carving change wherever they flow.

Our governments will not give us a peaceful,  democratic world where all nations work together for the betterment of all. Where together we can wipe out poverty, eradicate disease and end things like starvation and child trafficking. They don’t and won’t give this to us because it’s not profitable for them. It’s up to each of us to gather, just as Iran did today, and continue to support each other and push for the changes that we need in order to have that better world. Only we can give that to ourselves and each other and only if we work together.
